The Reality of Spiritual Warfare
We believe that Scripture teaches the reality of spiritual warfare. Believers live in a world where unseen spiritual forces oppose the purposes of God (Ephesians 6:12). Satan and his demons actively work to deceive, tempt, and hinder the work of the gospel. Yet believers are not called to fear these forces, but to stand firm in the strength of the Lord.
Scripture instructs believers to resist the devil, remain watchful, and stand firm in faith (James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:8–9). Through prayer, obedience, and reliance upon Christ, believers engage this battle with confidence. The weapons of our warfare are not worldly but divinely powerful for the destruction of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:3–5). By putting on the full armor of God and praying at all times in the Spirit, believers stand firm against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:13–18). The ultimate victory has already been secured through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Colossians 2:15; Romans 8:37).
Angels
We believe that angels are spiritual beings created by God to worship Him and carry out His will (Nehemiah 9:6; Psalm 103:20). Though greater in power than humans, they are created and finite beings who serve under God’s sovereign authority.
Scripture reveals that angels minister to God’s people and assist in carrying out His purposes (Hebrews 1:14). Different angelic beings serve distinct roles in God’s order. Michael is described as an archangel and defender of Israel (Daniel 12:1; Jude 9), while Gabriel appears as a messenger bringing divine revelation (Daniel 8:16; Luke 1:19). Other angelic beings such as seraphim and cherubim are depicted as proclaiming God’s holiness and guarding His glory (Isaiah 6:1–3; Genesis 3:24).
Satan and Demons
We believe that Satan was originally created as a glorious angel who rebelled against God and fell from his position (Isaiah 14:12–15; Ezekiel 28:12–17). Now called the devil and the adversary, he leads a host of fallen angels in opposition to God and His purposes (Revelation 12:7–9).
Though Scripture describes Satan as the ruler of this present world system and the deceiver of mankind (John 12:31; 2 Corinthians 4:4), his power is limited and subject to the sovereign authority of God. Through the cross and resurrection of Christ, Satan’s ultimate defeat has already been secured (Hebrews 2:14; Colossians 2:15). One day he and all who follow him will be finally judged and cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10).
Believers therefore stand firm not in their own strength but in the finished victory of Jesus Christ.
